Medical Terminology Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of Medical Terminology for Health Professions participants will be able to:
- Define the meaning of medical terminology word roots, suffixes, and prefixes
- Recognize and understand basic medical terms
- Identify and decipher medical abbreviations
- Spell and pronounce basic medical terminology
- Analyze unfamiliar terms using the knowledge of word roots, suffixes and prefixes gained in the course
Course Credit & Completion Time
Students have full access to Online Medical Terminology for one full year. This course is self-paced and completion time is dependent upon on many factors, including the student's prior knowledge, connection speed, reading comprehension, exercises and games completed. Students receive a certificate with CEUs when passing both the midterm and final examination with a 70% or better and completing a short course evaluation.
Upon successful completion of the Online Medical Terminology course students will receive a certificate of completion for 9.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Corexcel is authorized to award CEUs by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training. Acceptance of CEUs is at the discretion of the institution. To determine if your school will convert CEUs to college credit, submit the course objectives and accreditation information for approval before enrolling.
For students requiring college credit, Corexcel's online course, Medical Terminology for Health Professions, is approved for 3 college credits through ITCAP and its educational partner Pima Community College (PCC). PCC is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. To insure that the college credits will transfer to your institution, submit the course objectives and accreditation information to your institution for approval prior to enrolling.
