Can I get college credit for this course?

While Corexcel cannot guarantee that a college or university will accept this course for credit, many of them do after they evaluate the course content. Typically the school will request a description of the course, course outline and objectives to determine the number of credits. Click here to download a PDF that you can present to your school. Corexcel does have a process where a student can get college credit for the course if it is needed. The additional fee for college credit is $480. Students must register by phone 1-302-477-9730 to take advantage of this option. More information on college credit.

Where do I take exams?

The course is contained completely online which means you don't have to travel to a testing location to take exams. Complete all coursework and tests from any computer with an Internet connection. If you are taking the course for a certificate, all of the examinations are contained within the course. If you are taking the course with the college credit option, the chapter examinations are contained within the course, but we will email you a separate link for the final exam when you pass all the chapter exams (it's not the same final exam contained in the course).

Are the tests timed?

No the tests are not timed. However, you will automatically be logged out of the course if there is 15 minutes of inactivity. If the test does time out or if you get interrupted and have to return to the exam at a later time, you will have the option to resume where you left off or start the exam over entirely. You can also bookmark your location and come back to finish a test at a later time.

How long will this course take to complete?

This course is self-paced and several factors determine how long the course will take to complete. Some of the factors include your connection speed, how fast you read, how familiar you are with medical terms and your determination to finish the course. This course is accredited for 9.5 CEUs which is the equivalent of 95 hours. An average student will take 95 hours to read every page, complete every practice exercise, complete every practice test, listen to every sound file and play every game in it's entirety. Most students do not feel the need to complete every exercise, game and practice test. Some students have completed this course in 3 days while others have taken the full year.

How long will it take to receive my certificate?

Certificates are mailed within 2-3 business days of completion of the course evaluation. To request expedited shipping for your certificate, simply call our offices at 888.658.6641, send and email to or send your request using our contact form.

How long will it take to receive my college credit transcript?

College transcripts are only issued for students who registered for this option. They are available for request approximately 2-3 weeks after you complete the course. We receive an automated notification when the course evaluation has been completed. Upon receipt of this notice, we verify your scores and send them to ITCAP/Pima. They send out grade mailers every Tuesday for those students who completed the course by the previous Friday. Grade mailers are sent from Tucson, AZ so please allow for adequate mailing time. Your grade mailer will contain your student ID number and a URL you can use to request transcripts online. College credit transcripts are sent directly to your school. It is important to note there is a 2-3 week turnaround time from the date you complete the course evaluation until you are able to submit your transcript request.

Will I be issued a letter grade?

Typically, letter grades are issued for students who take this course for college credits and numerical grades are issued for everyone else. If you take the course for CEUs and need a letter grade, just call us at 888.658.6641, send an email to or submit your request through our contact form. We will be more than happy to fulfill your request.

How is my final grade determined?

If you are taking the course for CEUs, your score will be an average of the mid-term and final exam scores. If you are taking the course for college credits, your final grade will be taken from your final exam score. You must receive a score of 70% or above on each of the chapter exams. After you have passed all of the chapter exams, we will email a separate link for the final exam (it's not the same final exam contained in the course). Your score on the final exam will be your final grade for the course.

What are CEUs?

In 1970, a national task force of volunteers met to establish a form of credit for continuing education different from the semester system used in higher education. That credit was named the "Continuing Education Unit" and has come to be known as the "CEU." A CEU is defined as:

"Ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction."

The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) is the founder and guardian of the CEU and determines the criteria for awarding CEUs.

Corexcel has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, MacLean, VA 22102.

This type of credit is typically given for courses taken from training companies who've endured the rigorous process of accreditation but are not considered universities. CEUs are able to be converted to college credit more often than not.

Important: Beware of companies offering CEUs without the accreditation to offer them. If you are taking a course for CEUs make sure the organization providing the credits is accredited through the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. You can check to see if an organization is accredited in the IACET directory. Be sure to check the accreditation of any online school prior to enrolling in a course.

Do you need a high speed connection to take this course?

No, you do not need to have a high speed Internet connection to take this course. There are some animations and sound files included in the course but they have been compressed to accommodate varying connection speeds.

Are the prices listed on this site in US dollars?

Yes, all the prices listed on the Corexcel web site are in U.S. dollars.

Is the textbook required for taking this course?

The textbook is not required but extremely helpful. Some students prefer to do some of the coursework off-line and the textbook helps with that. The textbook also contains additional practice software which can also be helpful for retention.

Is the credit issued for this course acceptable outside of the United States?

This course carries international accreditation meaning it is acceptable across the world. Corexcel is accredited through the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET). If you need to present a description of the course you can download a printable outline by clicking here.

Will my company accept this course for reimbursement?

This varies by company or organization. Some require that courses for reimbursement carry college credit. You can get 3.0 college credits for this course through a partnership we've formed with ITCAP and Pima Community College. However, there is an additional $480 fee and the registration must be done over the phone. Please call 888-658-6641 if you have questions about this option.

I'm using Windows 7 and the course isn't functioning properly.

Problems with the course not functioning in Windows 7 are typically related to the web browser rather than Windows itself. If you are using the 64-bit version of Windows 7 and using the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer, the Flash Player will not function. The way to fix this problem is to use a 32-bit version of Internet Explorer.

Don't be concerned if you don't know the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems or web browsers. We've included instructions below on how to ensure you're using the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer.

To check which browser you're using:

  1. Open Internet Explorer as you would normally do.
  2. Go to the Help menu at the top of the browser and select About Internet Explorer.
  3. A window should display like the one below. If it does not say 64-bit Edition next to the version number, you're using the 32-bit version and shouldn't have problems accessing the content.
  4. Internet Explorer 8 Screen Shot
  5. If you followed the steps above and this box indicates that you're using the 64-bit version please close it and then close all open browser windows.
  6. Go to the Start button Windows 7 Start Button located in the bottom left corner of your screen.
  7. Choose All Programs to display a list of the programs available on your computer.
  8. Scroll through the list until you find Internet Explorer. You may have to scroll up or down depending on the last program you opened this way. Choose the Internet Explorer option that does not have 64-bit to the right.
  9. Windows 7 Programs List
  10. If you found that you were using the 64-bit version in step 3 and do not have two versions of Internet Explorer you may have to download a 32-bit version. If you need to download the 32-bit version click here.

If you can't find an answer above, please submit your question using our questions form. One of our representatives will be happy to answer all of your. Responses are sent by email during normal business hours 9:00 am to 5:30 pm EST Monday through Friday.
